Clinique Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer

  Hello there, lovely readers!!!

Back in September, I reviewed Clinique’s Turnaround Daytime Revitalizing Moisturizer and, while I still use it every morning, I have also been reaching for my sample size of the corresponding Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer. I was really interested to see the difference between the two products, and my skin can always use a little extra hydration overnight.

Features

  1. Allergy-tested
  2. Fragrance-free
  3. Lightweight
  4. Quickly absorbs into skin, with no greasy residue
  5. Does not cause breakouts, even with oily skin
  6. A little goes a long way
  7. Leaves skin healthy and glowing

img_0380-1Before applying this moisturizer, I prep my skin with my nightly skincare routine and substitute this in for the moisturizer component. I apply this to my face and neck, but a little goes a long way so I only use two small dollops. I have been using this since November when I received it in my second Autumn 2015 bonus gift, and I still have some left. I will be needing another jar of it soon but three months is a long time for a sample size to last.

The full size of this product retails for $46, which is definitely pricy, but this is a great lightweight and hyper-hydrating moisturizer. I have raved about Clinique as a brand numerous times in the past, but for good reason because all of their products are oil- and fragrance-free so I can experiment with them without without worrying about irritating my sensitive skin.

The morning after I have used this moisturizer, my skin feels super fresh and hydrated.  Now, as a university student, I occasionally get those pesky 11 wrinkles between my eyebrows, especially during exam time when my brow is often furrowed in studying concentration (yeah, right), but after using this moisturizer for about a week, those lines completely disappear, so even though this product is not marketed as a wrinkle reducer, I have noticed a change in my skin.

This moisturizer offers the trifecta of retexturizing, toning, and plumping of skin, and also reduces sun damage. I have been lucky enough to never have a sun burn, but this moisturizer is a lovely post-sun exposure remedy to any sun damage. Of course, always wear sunscreen.

What is your favourite product in Clinique’s Turnaround range???

Covergirl Eyeshadow Quads

IMG_4981Apparently Covergirl began releasing these new eyeshadow quads in early December in the states, but this is the first I have seen of them up here in Canada, and I am loving them!!!

These Covergirl Eyeshadow Quads Come in six colour variations, and have such darling names like Notice Me Nudes and Va Va Violets.

Either they are already gaining popularity in Canada, or it was the sale that did it, because when I stopped in to the cosmetic section of my nearest drugstore, some colours had only one quad left, and others were entirely sold out. It seemed like a good sign, and I was intrigued with the new range of colours, so I scooped up these two and gave them a try.

While my sensible side told me that I already had plenty of eyeshadow palettes with similar shades, I couldn’t resist these. The formula, the packaging-I loved it all. The price seemed a little steep at $10.49, but the sale made it better. The formula is soft and velvety, so they go on smooth and full, and they have a creamy consistency with a lovely metallic sheen. In contrast to other drugstore eyeshadows I have tried, these ones almost have a refined sparkle, making them perfect for day or evening wear.

Something I feel is important to note is the consistency. These eyeshadows are fairly powdery, and thus a fair bit falls under the eye during application. Because of this, brush application is out, and I would recommend using the enclosed wand or a sponge. I would also recommend using a primer, as the lightest shade tends to fade out over the course of the day, and primer helps keep the colour on fully and evenly.

The best part abut these quads in my opinion is exactly that: they are quads. With each palette containing four shades, the trouble of hunting down coordinating shades is saved, yet not all shades necessarily need to be worn at the same time. When testing them, I used the lightest shade as the base, the middle shade for the lid, the darker shade in the crease, and the darkest shade as a liner or definer.

So far I am very happy with these quads, and I hope to pick up some more when the closest drug store to me gets more in stock.

Clinique’s Cheek Pop Blush Pop Collection

Clinique Pop Blush PopClinique is welcoming spring early with the release of their new cheek pop blushers!!! I am pretty sure these were released some time in 2014 in other countries, but in Canada we only got them a few weeks ago, and I am already hooked on them. These new blushers come in four shades: ginger pop, plum pop, berry pop, and peach pop. At $24 a pop (no pun intended, though you have to admit it’s witty), I only picked up the two I thought would go best with my complexion: plum pop and ginger pop.

They are so pretty, and beyond wonderful to use, with the most natural looking finish I have come across in a blusher in quite some time. Plus, check out how cute the packaging is!!! I have to admit, the clear packaging and embossed flower lured me in, but the product did not disappoint.

The blushers in the Cheek Pop blush collection have an unbelievably lightweight and silky texture. They go on super smoothly and, while they apply like a powder blush, the finish resembles more that of a cream blush. Loving the satiny finish!!!

Personally, I am addicted to Plum Pop. It is a cool-toned sheer pink that adds a hint of rosy glow and definition to my cheeks, which is much appreciated in the Canadian winter months, where there are more cloudy and rainy days devoid of sun that I care to admit. I also adore Ginger Pop, but it is more of a sheer, earthy nude, which I want to save for the summer when my face needs a little brightening, and the sun isn’t shining as much as I might like.

Once again, Clinique has reminded me why they are my favourite makeup brand.
